Michael Jackson's
This Is It

[Gales Entertainment Scale (GES): An-Epic 8]

(Movie Release Year: 2009)

(Michael Jackson's) This Is It

A nostalgia inducing enlightening venture into the ‘World of Modern Live Performance’ indeed! =)

Having grown up a ‘Digital Native’ and ‘Child of The 80s’ [1984 to be exact—‘Year of The Mac!’ XD]; I had the kind honor of belonging to a father who was an ‘avid collector of vinyl records.’ Among the many stacks of EP and LP records I shall not ever easily forget [the]: “Thriller!” (Still got it too! ^_^ Not going anywhere anytime soon either… ^^;)

During the various interviews in this film, the audience I viewed with the first-day’s-[public]-screening of “This Is It” were very obviously enlightened not only to what was indeed an awesome show in the making—but also the hard-[sometimes-tedious-^^;]-work, sequences of preparation and auditions of selection which take place before-and-after not only a ‘Live Music Show-and-Performance’ but any Live-Performed ‘Visual Artwork’ of ‘Existence.’ ^_^ [From stage play to serious educational/entertaining workshop ^_^].
The sometimes-grueling rehearsals.

The often well-felt ‘family-like’ atmosphere which is developed over a span of time which is certainly not different from any circumstance where human beings work in synergy with one another for any length of time. The ‘pre-recorded’ work which syncs along in the background with the sounds and visuals onstage. The entrancing quality and direct-management of ‘Controlled Fire’ [Pyrotechnics] and the situations surrounding carefully examined for safety. All of that is here in “This Is It.”

A delightfully great deal of surprise to me and rather welcome from the ‘Life-To-Death-Horror-Story’ it would appear that some—were also expecting as well. In fact… there is not even a single ‘Headstone,’ ‘Doctor’s Office Interview’ nor ‘Life-to-death’ label [that is Michael Jackson: 1958-2009 – King of Pop”] presented throughout the film. I truly was very impressed. Upon viewing one brief film about the movie before its release date online—it was mentioned ‘The objective of this film is to capture hopefully the spirit and performance of what would have been a show carried out in the pre-designated 50 places starting in London.’ Wakata. =) I would agree that this objective and goal was most certainly achieved! ^^

To be modest-and-truthful… initially I was expecting a from-life-to-death ‘Chronicled Lifetime’ of Michael Jackson [E.Y.N.B.]. To me, Michael Jackson certainly was a magnificent artist! ^^ Of course, speaking for me, and only for me personally—M.J. was certainly an intriguing individual—but to me as an individual… was not my past-nor-current-day ‘Sole Inspiration.’

No ‘one person’ has ever been that for me—not even while growing. I find high joy, inspiration and happiness in all the wonderful artists, doctors, philosophers, activists, scientists, cash-register clerks-far-below-above-and-beyond which lead up to the point of my current existence-at-this-time. In brief, I simply am saying that I personally do not know what it is like to be a ‘celebrity groupie,’ ‘person-lost-in-the-life-of-a-great-mind-or-prophet’ nor ‘idolizer-of-any-one-living-thing-or-form-of-technological-advancement.’ ^^;

To me, we are all equally extremely capable of some rather awesome things. For an individual, it takes not-so-much-more as ‘Intrinsic-Focus,’ ‘Self -Honesty,’ ‘Centered-Discipline’ and ‘Passionate-Purpose’ (what I call ‘Love.’ ^~wink). In essence, “This Is [Not] It.” The final chapter-and-performance of this man’s tale is but a ‘Closed Chapter’ in an ever-growing-very-possibly-infinite-forever-story we have come to decide upon naming, calling and labeling such a joyful phrase as “Life!” ^^

However, as a whole… ‘OurStory’ is so very full of ‘Grand Individuals’ who are very much and very well worthy of mention. =) This is simply one tale of many. ^^ …And that given-and-accepted-fact-to-me is what makes ‘Our Current Existence’ ever-intriguing, great, AWESOME and fun-to-live-in! ^_^
Okay… tangents’ over now. ^^; Back to the film “This Is It.” XD]

The ‘planning process’ is one which individuals typically over-look whilst viewing a magnificent performance. I shall certainly say that I am very happy that this film does such a great job of enlightening the ‘general public mind’ to the great deal of work, effort, energy and passion—that goes into any great stage performance. Perhaps this film’s release shall aide to cut back on the ‘negative mindset’ I sometimes hear from individuals who go to watch a fun-and-spectacular-show and then come back saying, “Yeah… the performance was alright. The singing was good and the crowd was big but it was so-so. I like the CD better.”

WHAT!? XD lol. Two different worlds indeed. XD =) “This Is It” does an elegant job of presenting how much love-and-preparation goes into any one of those “Alright Shows.” [everyone wants to be an ‘anal-critic.’ Sheesh. ^^;] Extra value found in this great film include Michael Jackson’s voiced over opinions, reasoning, feelings and thoughts during ‘Earth Song’ alongside the touching visuals and images of a rain forest and young girl attempting to flee the wrath of an ever-progressive ‘Creative-Destructive-Creative…’ ‘Human Energy.’

‘Human Nature?’ Or the ‘Force of Creativity’ and ‘Destruction’ in general? YOU BE THE JUDGE! [Once you see the ‘New-age-visuals’ for ‘Earth Song’ that I’m talking about of course. ^^;] All-in-all, this was a most excellent performance and entertaining film from a perspective that may not have been ever taken had it not been that the ‘Circumstances of Our Author’s Fate’ had been ‘Written’ and ‘Rendered’ to ‘The Reality’ of which we ‘Currently Have Come To Know.’ In brief? Michael Jackson has died.

As one author and entrepreneur put it, “He is [now] the new Elvis!” As another author and writer put it, “It is a great tragedy. A loss for us all.” In my humble opinion? =) Let’s not worry about that right now shall we. ^_~

Let me simply say that I believe that whatever does happen—happens for a reason to further tell the story of what is ‘Our Current Existence’ which tomorrow shall be the ‘Past’ and the next day shall be considered the ‘Future’ on a ‘Plane of Time’ which may-or-may-not have any ‘One Complete End’ nor ‘One Complete Beginning.’ Capish? ^_~ No? O_O; Well I’m sorry then. ^^; That really is… the best I can do right now. ^^;

As for your view of the film and the ‘Current Circumstance’ which includes ‘All That Exists…’ I am eager to learn! ^^ As I am sure are many!! =D So what are you waiting for? =) Go watch the film, because as for the ‘end of this person’s review…’ “This Is It!” XD

P.S. I definitely look forward to hearing more from the ‘Superbly-Singing-ly-beautiful-Siren’ Judith Hill [of Japanese/African/American decent! ^_^] and the ‘Gorgeous-Golden-Haired-Guitarist’ Orianthi Panagaris [of Greek/Australian decent! ^_^] very soon. These two artists [in my humble opinion] certainly did an outstanding performance job quite literally—to me me—these two artists ‘stood out’ just-as-much [if not-more-than!] Michael Jackson during the Universal Broadcasting [literal in two senses ^^;] of “This Is It!”

Kudos to a major-awesome future girls! ^~ Also Kudos and digs to Thomas Organ—Mr. ‘Trick-Guitarist’ built-like-a-bear and bad-as-fuck on the mean ‘Rhythm Guitar!’ XD

I totally LOVED the ‘Panagaris Vs. Organ’ scene where the two pretty much ‘dueled guitars’ and in the end—Thomas points at Orianthi repetitiously indicating, “She bad! She bad!” XD And indeed all individuals—technicians and dancers—publicists and columnists—and each involved in the sharing of this most-awesome-film—MEGA FIVE STARS! XDD
