Gales Entertainment Scale Rating: [THE 10] *Best Balanced Anime 2008!*

The Humble Thoughts of Tiger M. Gales:

*****

*Best Balanced Anime 2008!*

My heart be still, I’m in love with all characters [protagonists and antagonists alike!] in this

AWESOME ANIME!

From Magic Princess, to Riiya, to Shiine, to Dorothy, Seravy, Que-chan, The ‘Nekos,’
to the cutest coolest ‘little’ [literally! ^_^] chic antagonist around—
Musqui of the ‘Mosquito Tribe’ and beyond! The first line of ‘Ending 3’s’
words for this elegant and pas excellence 74 episode series goes to make the statement best:
“Even if everyone’s character’s difference… everyone’s an honor student [winner].” ^_^

The characters in this series and ‘random factor’ [lol—the ‘factor’ that basically has ‘randomness’
take place in the typical anime regardless of the anime sub-genre e.g. the ‘unexpected explosions,
arguments, characters popping up, senseless debates, etc.] are so well timed and ‘kinetic’ from one
to the other—‘star’ and ‘favorite characters’ [so to speak] would not work without the ‘smaller’ and ‘co-roles!’

Within the GIAGANTIC series [74 eps has taken me over half the year to complete—
but of course I’ve been living a life outside watching anime and gaming as well… ^^;],
there are many episodes that include characters just specifically for one episode.

In the very last episode (which thoroughly impressed me—I was glad to see it broke the typical,
“I knew they would get married in the end” style-story that the typical slapstick/comedy/drama
anime such as this and Ranma ½ [which I haven’t seen although I am familiar with the storyline
and characters in it—my sis is into it, and I had a quick ‘thing-for-Akane’ after thumbing through
a couple of manga and playing her character on SNES a while ago ^_^)].

The series plays off of many, many, MANY ‘classic fairy tales’ such as “The Wizard of Oz,”
“The Three Little Pigs,” countless Japanese, U.S. and European Stories and Legends, and of course
most notably… “Little Red Riding Hood” [which the third opening is actually a re-hash of the three
main protagonists—Chacha, Riiya and Shiine—role-playing as the classic characters in a play-set… of course…

things get crazy and out of control as ‘loved-ones’ mess with other’s ‘loved ones’ and booby traps
are set and slapstick takes place. ^^; Every character (in my humbled opinion) is MASSIVELY unique.

Marine’s—a mermaid who gets ‘human legs’ when she dries out on land and grows her ‘second mermaid half’
only when she becomes wet is a selfish, clingy ‘cheerleader’ type who although one feels sorry for at times—
plays the role of ‘antagonistic-protagonist.’ Her obsession with Riiya and utter naivety that he’s can morph
into a [STRONG] little Werewolf Pup stays consistent throughout the series.

Also the fact that she falls for him (running from Umibozu—who is obsessed with her although she is
utterly disgusted by him!)—and Chacha is best chic-friend with Riiya—creates an interesting
‘Love Square’ with multiple parallels and a diverse explanation (to me at least) that I won’t even
begin to delve into. ^_^ To put it brief, the creators [Min Ayahana, Nihon Ad Systems
[NAS—or man in Arabic. XDD Hahahahah!] and Studio Gallop) of this awesome anime series
did an excellent job of keeping the anime ‘Tame’ enough for the ‘All Audiences’ label—
but was clever enough to insert the complexities of ‘3-and-4-way’ relationships throughout the series
with even elements of ‘Hentai(!)’ without even grazing the ‘hint bar’ for viewers unfamiliar with the
Japanese ‘Explicit Art’ [get to that here soon].

Seravy is your typical “cool-mad-scientist-[wizard]-type” whom everyone
[especially the female counterparts in the series] seems to love, but no one seems to understand.
Chacha, Shiine and Riiya share a “Puppy-Love Triangular Love Affair” that is so adorable—
one cannot help but desire to see all three of them make it together. Period.

Dorothy-chan is in love with Seravy, but also has this feeling of ambivalence towards him
because no matter what she does or tries to do—Seravy tends to always excel at well… everything. ^_^

The first ep. of the series actually begins with she as the antagonist
(thanks to an evil-inspiring mirror delivered to her by “The Evil Lord”) and although her name is
obviously based off of “The Wizard of Oz” character who totted a dog named Toto—
in her opening episode, she is portrayed more of as “The Wicked Witch of The West” in an
“Evil Stepmother” role versed off against ‘Snow White’ [who’s role Chacha plays as].

After the first episode though, her character is an interesting paradox.
She herself is a hot-headed witch [bitch >.>] with an explosive temper—
but oddly charming personality [and character look to boot!].

Although she continues to hide her feelings throughout the anime,
Seravy is very openly in love with her [their relationship reminds me of my own relationship
I once had with a friend and woman… Whom yes, I still love [as I love pretty much everyone! ^_^
but am no longer interested in sharing a romantic relationship with in terms of physiological proximity].

And of course, in a romantic slapstick-comedy such as this one—Dorothy—just as Chacha, Shiine and Riiya—
does not go unchallenged. Yakko-chan is pretty much the ‘opposite’ of Akazukin Chacha.
Akazukin literally means, “Red Riding Hood.” Yakko-chan plays a ‘smart-girl’/’businesswoman’
who typically tries to make a buck or two. She is known as “Black Riding Hood”
[or at least introduces herself as such] and has a head-over-hills relationship for Seravy—
who is most likely 3 to 4 times her senior.

She is your typical “Too-mature-for-a-childhood-friendship”
gal who doesn’t like to associate herself to the ‘meaningless fun’
that the other children at Magic School. Her ‘character-color’ [hair color] is
‘Royal Purple’ and blue. Yakko’s character reminds me of my mom’s. ^^
Chacha [my personal favorite character in the series] is your typical,
“Fun-To-Be-Around-Ditz” [I felt some “personality-similarities…” <.<; Shut up...],
Shiine is your ‘Smart-But-Secretive-Guy’ who tends to ‘dance-off-into-fantasy’…
as many of the characters tend to do from time to time in this fine series. ^_^

His character reminded me my sister’s style of character.
Then there’s Riiya—the “Macho-Hot-Head” who easily forgets
and forgives and is Chacha’s best friend—which bothers Shiine-chan
who is head-over-hills for her and will pretty much do anything for her…
but is often too shy to. Riiya’s character reminds me of my youngest brother’s character.

Each character is excellently matched up with his and her ‘color character.’
In a way… well I won’t get into Metaphysics right now. ^^
Their colors are Red [Chacha], Blue [Shiine] and Green [Riiya].
Duuuuude! XDD You won’t believe this [or maybe you will.
*Laughs* *Smiles*], but my favorite color is Red. Ni’mat’s favorite color is blue…
and guess what Zafir’s is (and what kinds of clothes he often enjoys wearing out and about…)
Yup! You guessed it! Green! Like I said, I won’t get into metaphysics and how I see this parallel of Character,
Color along with one’s aligned Sun and Moon Signs and personality types—and how the correlation always tends
to character a certain ‘character’ and color right now… (and it’s not like I’d be saying anything that already
hasn’t been said hundreds of times in the past anyway. ^_^).

In addition to these awesome characters—there is Orin-chan—
who with Yakko and Marine-chan kind of make up this
‘secondary trio’ that aides to amplify the ‘character color’
of the star protagonists that is, Chacha, Shiine and Riiya.

The story itself goes on and on and on.

In fact, in the final episode, the statement is well-stated…
“…Like a never-ending story” which in my humble opinion—certainly is!
Even near the end—unique characters and new situations continue to circle and appear,
old questions re-arise, and new answers are found! ^^ However, the initial first 60-or-so episodes
is based on Chacha’s quest as “Magical Princess” [whom she is given power to morph into as of episode 1]
to defeat “The Evil Lord” and reclaim her parents and place as “Princess of The Magic Kingdom.”

After defeating “The Evil Lord,” the next 17 episodes or so focus on
“Peace” in the magic Kingdom (instead of an abrupt end… which I greatly respect).
The tale may seem ‘trite’ to some (in fact, “Super Mario Brothers,” “Kooper,” and
“Peach, Princess Toad Stool” came to mind when I first heard the term “Magic Kingdom” used. ^^;)…

however… the ‘base story’ swiftly shapes and morphs itself into an epic adventure that will have the typical
viewer curious of what will happen next. ^_^ Don’t believe me? I got into this series because 4 years after my
friend Zel Harris put me episode 1 on a disc, I finally got around to viewing the episode—and after seeing it—
I decided to download the full series. Little did I know what I was getting into. ^^;

I was expecting to find a typical 26-episode anime—possibly even briefer since the anime
[told by its art style] was obviously older [original release year in Japan was 1991].
But when I saw it was 74 episodes… Wow. Not only did it take me a while to retrieve from
‘Your Friendly Online & Digital Providers’ ^~* (I’m too broke to purchase the box set—
but I may someday—or not. I like the ‘Digital World.’ No need to store something or find a place
for it in ‘Tangible Reality’ ^_^)—I wondered how I would go about viewing the awesome series
whilst working two jobs (at the time) and continue my ‘Self-Studies’ (i.e. living from day to day—
which did indeed include viewing this awesome animated work ^^).

But beyond what lead me to ‘The Watching’ period… let’s get back to the series
(*Looks up…* which seems to be… in the process of a ‘total re-write’ or ‘New Series’ XDD). Where was I?
Oh yes! “Subtle Hentai!” ^_^ From vines wrapping around the bare legs and thighs of “The Magical Princess”
and hydras who ‘Eat’ [literally] Maidens in their “Own way…” although quite possibly unrealized
to the untrained eye—and most likely ignored by those unfamiliar with the “Sexier Side” of Anime (which is
actually… gooooing somewhere—‘cause anime itself is already pretty much an eye-pleasing ‘candy.’ ^^)…

these references most likely will slip right past. But in the Hydra episode for example
(which truly was my favorite in the entire series regarding the rivaling-but-cute relationship
between Chacha and Marine)—Chacha and Marine are offered as ‘Virgin Sacrifices’ to a hydra.

The multiple heads on the creature state before the “Eating Ceremony” that
‘We are going to eat her in our own way…’ Sorges (“The Evil Lord’s” loyal apprentice—
for a while at least) has this look on his face like, “Oh my god… what the?” Hentai parody. Then the Hydra suddenly pulls out a bucket, a grate and some radish (from nowhere of course. ^^)
and begins dicing and liquefying the radish saying, ‘Ah, it’s nice to eat maidens in radish.’

Later, during her saving-escape [thanks to a heroic entrance by Shiine and Riiya),
the hydra drops Chacha into the bucket of thick-white elixir, and when she comes out,
she is covered in the sticky-white substance and the first thing she says is with crying-eyes,
“Ahh! I ate some.” lol—Hentai Reference. There are several references like this, however, my favorite
(and possibly the cutest and most tame reference) was where Shiine and Riiya go to bed in Chacha’s newly
collected “Neko House” (after defeating Nyndabazer ZZ—a mech created by a Dr. Mikeneko…
a male neko mad-scientist. Yeah… a mech—controlled by an inch-off-the-ground mad scientist...
In a ‘Wizard’ and ‘Magic’ flick. Ya’h… pretty much anything and everything goes in this super-fun series. =D)

The episode shortly after the first time the three sleep in the “Kitty House…”
the episode title is ‘strategically’ named, ‘Breakfast in The Kitty House.” Clever. =)

Of course, I am just an ‘All Around Anime Lover’ seeing such things in an anime are but part of the fun
in viewing it. Besides—there aren’t really that many references—possibly six or seven throughout
the 74 episodes. But beyond the H-Refs… there are also parody-references to other anime and
as stated waaaaaaaay before (XDD I guess I’ve been writing a while now… ^^;)—
references to Nursery Rhymes, classic Japanese, U.S., European and other classic stories from around the world.

With Slapstick Comedy, a story-resembling Harry Potter more so than Rumiko Takahashi no Ranma ½
(which the art style drastically reminds me of—I initially thought it was her anime. ^^;),
and more fun and ‘hidden references’ [parody, metaphysical and hentai alike! ^^]—
these past 6 months has been a real blast! ^_^

By the way, I just learned of the OVA and am retrieving that now as I type
(isn’t the ‘Digital Age’ wonderful! ^_^ Some companies don’t think so! XDD).

Three episodes which I truly desire to see—they were created in 1996—
5 years after the original series was released in ’91 [the year the van flipped in South Dakota—
and me and all my family could have been killed… I will always thank God for sparring us that day].

Back to Chacha.

In all though, yeah… the story of Akazukin Chacha (the anime series) certainly inspired within me
to continue to the completion “Yasshi-hibiki Shinrai” and the anime “Shinrai!” Why? Because what…
for going on 4 years now—I had this idea I thought was fantasy.

To have this HUGE series (like 60 to 70 eps)
of Yasshi-Hibiki Shinrai’s adolescence—
teenage phase—
adult phase—
adult married phase—
depression after loss—
discovery of her ‘Guardian Self’
[through defeating a ‘final’ antagonist]—
adventures after defeating the antagonist—
settling in with the new ‘world peace’ in ‘Second Creation’
[which initially I thought was something I made up—
until I read the term was used by psychologist Dr. R. Covey—
author of “The Seven Habits of Highly Successful People—
to explain things out of the ‘Thought World’ and ‘Into Reality’ ^^ Go figure. ^^;

Mine still has a different meaning though. ^~
Congrads though definitely Dr. C! ^_^ Happy Birthday this upcoming October! =D]

reclamation of her past relationship—and the story would continue on until her passing at 81…
but her passing would simply be a new beginning. Whew. Yeah. Although I had this concept several years
before ever even knowing what “Akazukin Chacha” ever was… Chacha’s anime has served as ‘Fuel’
to keep me persistent in shaping and creating such an anime. ^_^

And as for Akazukin Chacha’s story itself… to this date, no anime (in my humble opinion)
has such an excellent balance of strong characters, a ‘cool random factor,’ comedy-over-the-roof and drama
that can have one literally exclaim outlout ‘Aww’ (I did several times. ^_^) and keep up the same level
of interest—no… increasing the interest… for more than 26 episodes! ^^

I know earlier this year I explained how “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya” was
(and still is!) an excellently balanced anime. I found it grand because so much was put into
a ‘short-span-of-time’ (14 episodes—almost half what the typical anime does).

Elfen Lied is another fine example (albeit far more gory and dark) of a
‘Well Balanced Anime’ (done in 11 episodes and leaving little more to ask for—
and even ends with a ‘mind-stimuli ^^). Nonetheless, I will say in my most humble of opinions,
Akazukin Chacha is indeed the ‘Queen of…’ well… ‘Princess of Rather’ ^^ of Balanced Anime! ^^

I say this not only due to the fact that new characters are added consistently
and the ‘base characters’ consistently grow up (in character and in body!
Check the ep where Chacha, Shiine and Riiya accidentally drink an ‘adult drink’
and morph in to ‘Teen Form’ as a crazy drunk [Chacha], a depressed drunk [Shiine] and angry drunk [Riiya].

Ahahah! Classic! ^^

Chacha: *Silence* “…Attack.” *Dragon Rabbit chars the antagonists* *Chacha Mad Laughs* XDD)—
but the utter endurance… and broad audience it reaches… certainly dubs Akazukin Chacha
my current top pick for “Best Balanced Anime” (Sorry Haruhi. ^^; You were holding out this year ‘til this. ^^
Well at least this computer is still named after your character as well as Tendou Rushuna. ^^

You two also have two also remixes due to your excellent contributions… which reminds me—in a moment).

Sincerely. I could show a 5 year old or 50 year old—or 100 year old!—
Akazukin Chacha and each of these individuals would get something out of the anime
(most likely tons of laughs from all of them—especially given none of them have seen an anime before).

“The Melancholy…” and “Elfen L…” well… are more ‘niche’ oriented and ‘specific’
(Although Haruhi’s anime most certainly covers a broader audience than the
ultra-psycho-suspenseful ‘Elf Song’ ^^).

Speaking of being inspired to create remixes and original tracks thanks to Haruhi Suzumiya
and Tendou Rushuna… yeah… Chacha has inspired great things within as well.
Having taken the time to learn “Adobe Premier” much of this year and bits of last—
I now have the awesome ability (‘Level Up!’ ^^ No… wait… ‘Holy Up!’ XDD *Wild Laugh!*)...
to get sound clips from any anime as pleased.

The original track I did this with was “Who Is Rushuna Tendou…”
but I certainly did not think this would become part of my craft.

Now every time I watch an anime or movie or recordable media in digital format—
I copy down the times I hear witty quotes or hear a certain melody-in-voice or ‘background music’
[those that are REALLY good make it into my ‘Eternal Journals’ and/or “Gales Bartletts.” Heh. ^_^].

Chacha’s anime—since so excellently and full of wit throughout—
had me copying down times for pretty much all episodes starting at episode 30.
Thanks to this extensive and artistic task (indeed…)—I came up with a ‘System’
for recording such quotes and sounds whilst viewing Chacha.

In its primitive formats—wow… yeah… I may never even find some of those quotes and snippets—
but now that the ‘system’ is up-and-running—I will certainly not have issue finding future quotes.

From here on out when I’ll call it the “Chacha Juice System” or “Chacha System”
and I will be in “Chacha Mode” [reference to me recording so many ‘time tags’ from
Chacha’s anime and our corresponding character type.
I didn’t say ‘gender’ type—I said ‘character type.

I won’t go into my perception of the metaphysics right now.
But yes, I was dawned to this world with a penis.

Chacha & Magical Princess would most likely have a vagina there sir… or ma’am.

The system is actually quite simple—I just simply pause whatever it is I am watching,
record a ‘general time frame’ [i.e. the desired recorded action happens at 10 minutes and 25 seconds—
I get a ‘general time frame of ’10 minutes and 20 seconds and ten minutes and 30 seconds—
VCL Player and Adobe Premier don’t always agree on time-line since Premier is “Frames Based”
and VCL player is just a player—therefore ‘time-based’), the anime episode or movie series number,
the edit number for the specific episode or movie (say for example, “E5” for Edit 5) and write a
brief description of what was stated or what sound it is I’m looking for when I go through the whole digital-bit
in Adobe Premier to edit it out and have it on standby for song mixing or for other
future sound and/or audio-video purposes. ^^

Also during this awesome anime, I came up with how later on—when Gales Interactive is up-and-running—
how we can go about creating “Mad Dash Anime 2000+<Whatever-the-release-year-is>.” (Should it be)

After obtaining copyrights and performance rights to portray the selected characters in-game—
we could simply get the original sounds from the specific anime instead of hiring (or re-hiring) Seiyuu! ^^
‘Cause by the time “Mad Dash Anime 2000+<Whatever-the-release-year-is>” (Should it be) is actually released—
I’m certain that Seiyuu voices will be different and I desire to use the original character voices for attacks, abilities and in-game moves and such
(I’ve been working on this “Mad Dash Anime”
idea for quite some time now—
it began around the same time I was developing “Monster Rancher SLASH.”
A fighting game based off of Tecmo’s awesome Monster Rancher Anime Series—
based off the excellently-awesome video game =D).

With Adobe, Cakewalk and other digital ‘sound-manipulating’
products and programs out there these days—I certainly can see why not! ^_^ Ah!

And before I forget, this series also inspired me to create a complete ALBUM called “Chacha Juice!”
(Because her red riding hood which reminds me of "Fruit Punch" the drink that looks like it does by Cool-Aid)

In fact, I’m looking at the folder I created for all the ‘Snippet Times’ I got from the 74-ep series. =)

It may take a while to get all the snippets and create some songs,
but I’ve already got several fine ideas that I sure will shape into excellent productions
once I finally get around to it. =) So in brief. Yeah. THANK YOU CHAHA!!!
(and all who contributed to your creation in-anime-front or in background in secret!) ^^

I have forever been inspired by your story! =)
And what’s? The OVA retrieving is about a 4th way complete. ^_^

It will most definitely be the next anime listed. =)
